Born In The USA – Bruce Springsteen
Born down in a dead man’s town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
You end up like a dog that’s been beat too much
Till you spend half your life just to cover it up
Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
I got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hands
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man
Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Come back home to the refinery
Hiring man says “Son if it was up to me”
Went down to see my V.A. man
He said “Son don’t you understand”
I had a brother at Khe Sahn
Fighting off the Viet Cong
They’re still here, he’s all gone
He had a woman he loved in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms now
Down in the shadow of the penitentiary
Out by the gas fires of the refinery
I’m ten years down the road
Nowhere to run ain’t got nowhere to go
Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
I’m a long gone Daddy in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
I’m a cool rocking Daddy in the U.S.A.

I worked together with Gesa, Ina and Birte on our song-presentation of Bruce Springsteen: Born in the U.S.A..
The Song was published at 1984 and it was his 7th studio album.
The Lyric is about a man who has to fight in the Vietnam War for the U.S.A.
When he came back to the U.S.A. he was ignored because the americans where very disappointed from the veterans.
It was the first war the americans didn’t win.
The soldiers in Vietnam thought they fight for freedom and democracy but when they realized that they killed
many people without any sense they went crazy. Back in America the veterans weren’t accepted because they lost
the war.
This song shows one very bad thing which dies not fit with the American Dream. It was an traumatic
experience for all Americans because they killed so many people.
Normally the American Dream should be something good and special for each American.
But this time the ” Dream went to a nightmare for the Americans.
